Both Minor and Major Adversity Leads to Depression!

“There are wounds that never show on the body that are deeper and more hurtful than anything that bleeds.” This excerpt from Laurell K. Hamilton clearly unwraps the gravity of the word ‘depression’ in its own measures. Depression is an emerging concern in contemporary society that needs to have a period set on it. The word itself and its circumstances have become recurrent and familiar at present, that it has become a normal day to day life topic for many of us. Depression is not a joke and neither is a matter that should disregard, as it takes away the lives of our loved ones in an unpredictable way. It is completely agreeable that this melancholy disease of the soul is a counterpart of adverse events that may have occurred in an individual’s life or on his/her own mind!

Depression is not a mental disease that only hits a specific age or gender. Despite the occurrences in one’s life or the present mental state, this disease could be considered unforeseeable. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the depression rate differs by generation, sex, social state, and health department in the United States. Women were twice likely to have depression than men. (DJ, LA & J, 2020). Depression strikes different groups in different ways. It could be recognized in different behavioural characteristics.
