Garlic is a versatile herb which gives dozens of benefits. It comes under onion genus. Which means it’s related to onions, leeks, shallots and chives.

It is widely used all around the world for its powerful flavour. Many people add it to their dishes in order to make their dishes more sumptuous as well as healthy.

History of this versatile herb extends to about 4500 BC. All the workers who created the pyramids had a law requiring them to eat garlic daily. The law was enacted to protect the workers from infections as a disinfectant.

Moreover, it is said in the history that Hippocrates, the father of Western medicine, prescribed garlic for intestinal diseases.

Since it contains volatile fatty substances, it has already been discovered that garlic is a cure for various ailments. These substances contain a good amount of chemicals, resulting in an unpleasant odour. It contains minerals, phosphorus, potassium, vitamin A, vitamin D, calcium and carbohydrate.

It is said that Mohandas Gandhi had added garlic to his diet, so that the its smell was emanating from his body.
