What’s cable transportation?
It’s a broad class of transport modes which uses cables. The passengers or goods are carried in ‘cable cars’, which have connected to cables. We can often see cable transportation in the mountainous areas. The first recorded cable railway was the Llandegai Tramway in North Wales, which was opened in 1798.

Although the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau had long fascinated painters, poets, scholars and great personalities, it was the first ascents that triggered the desire to build a railway through the triple peaks. It is a desire that became a reality at the end of the 19th century, when numerous mountain railways were constructed during Switzerland’s rampant “mountain railway fever”.
